Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) Dissemination

Palangka Raya - BPS has again contributed to democracy in Indonesia since 2009 with the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenkopolhukam), the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri). BPS-Statistics of Kalimantan Tengah Province as an extension of BPS, on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the BPS-Statistics of Kalimantan Tengah Province Hall, socializing the 2019 Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) to invitees from Palangka Raya University, members of the DPRD and DPD, as well as government agencies in Central Kalimantan.

Kalimantan Tengah IDI in 2019 amounted to 81.16, this is an increase of 9.89 points compared to 2018. This means that democracy in Kalimantan Tengah is getting better in 2019. The increase in value in the aspect of political rights is able to boost the overall IDI value of Kalimantan Tengah, even though aspects of civil liberties and democratic institutions have decreased.

IDI has data collection stages, namely newspaper reviews, document reviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and in-depth interviews. FGDs in 2019 were held online, while in 2020 they were held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
