Abstract

Of 82 cities monitoring national CPI, 51 cities experienced inflation and 31 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Ambon (0.86 percent) and the highest deflation in Tual (3.03 percent).
  • Deflation occurred in Palangka Raya (0.03 percent) and in Sampit (0.01 percent). Both cities are ranked 55th and 54th city of the highest inflation at the national level.
  • Deflation in Palangka Raya was affected by a decline in the price index in the foodstuffs group (0.31 percent), housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel (0.04 percent), and health (0.03 percent).
  • Deflation in Sampit was also influenced by the decline in the price index in the foodstuffs group (0.69 percent) and housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel (0.12 percent).
  • Based on the two reference cities, Kalimantan Tengah Province experienced deflation (0.02 percent) followed by the inflation rate of the calendar year (0.21 percent) and year-on-year inflation (3.83 percent).
  • The influence of volatile foods is quite strong as a driver of deflation in Palangka Raya (0.03 percent) and Sampit (0.18 percent).
