Kalimantan Tengah experiences 0.48% inflation

Abstract

Out of 82 national CPI monitoring cities, 43 experienced inflation and 39 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manado (1.22 percent) and the highest deflation was in Balikpapan (0.69 percent). Palangka Raya and Sampit were ranked 4th and 15th highest inflation cities at the national level.
  • Inflation in Palangka Raya (0.64 percent) was influenced by rising prices in the transportation, communication and financial services group (1.35 percent) and foodstuffs (1.28 percent).
  • Inflation in Sampit (0.21 percent) was influenced by an increase in the price index of the clothing group (2.01 percent) and foodstuffs (0.53 percent).
  • Based on the two reference cities (Palangka Raya and Sampit), Kalimantan Tengah Province experienced inflation (0.48 percent), followed by calendar year inflation rate (1.39 percent) and year-on-year inflation rate (2.57 percent) is quite low .
  • The volatile foods component was the main driver of inflation in Palangka Raya (0.25 percent) and Sampit (0.17 percent).
