Abstract

The economy of Central Kalimantan based on the size of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices in the first quarter of 2024 reached IDR 52.2 trillion, based on constant prices in 2010 it reached IDR 28.5 trillion.

The economy of Central Kalimantan in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the first quarter of 2023 (y-on-y) experienced growth of 4.93 percent. In terms of production, the highest growth occurred in the Mining and Quarrying Business Field at 13.10 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of component expenditure, the highest growth occurred in the LNPRT Consumption Expenditure Component at 19.76 percent.

The Central Kalimantan economy in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the fourth quarter of 2023 experienced a contraction of 6.30 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, there are still nine business fields that are growing positively. The business field with the highest growth was achieved by the Financial Services and Insurance category which grew by 3.60 percent, followed by the Wholesale and Retail Trade business field; Car and Motorcycle Repairs grew by 2.01 percent, and the Electricity and Gas Procurement Category grew by 1.51 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, the Consumption Expenditure Component of Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (PK-LNPRT) experienced the highest growth of 4.66 percent. This figure was followed by the Export Component of Goods and Services which grew by 1.84 percent.

The spatial economic structure of Kalimantan in the first quarter of 2024 is still dominated by East Kalimantan Province at 48.12 percent. Central Kalimantan Province is in fourth place with a contribution of 12.08 percent. On a y-on-y basis, all provinces in the Kalimantan region experienced positive growth, while on a q-to-q basis, only East Kalimantan experienced positive growth.
