Abstract

In September 2024, Indonesia's expenditure inequality, measured using the Gini ratio, was 0.304. This figure increased by 0.003 points compared to the March 2024 Gini ratio of 0.301 and decreased by 0.013 points compared to the March 2023 Gini ratio of 0.317.

The Gini ratio in urban areas in September 2024 was recorded at 0.322; an increase compared to the March 2024 Gini ratio of 0.311 and a decrease compared to the March 2023 Gini ratio of 0.335.

The Gini ratio in rural areas in September 2024 was recorded at 0.282; a decrease compared to the March 2024 and March 2023 Gini ratios, which were 0.288 and 0.298, respectively.

Based on the World Bank's inequality measure, the expenditure distribution of the bottom 40 percent of the population was 21.88 percent. When broken down by region, the figure for urban areas was recorded at 20.58 percent. Meanwhile, for rural areas, the figure was recorded at 23.12 percent.
