June 2022: Palangka Raya experiences inflation of 0.87 percent and Sampit experiences inflation of 0.89 percent

Abstract

In June 2022, based on two reference cities, Palangka Raya and Sampit, inflation in Kalimantan Tengah was 0.88 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.39. Of the 90 CPI cities, 85 cities experienced inflation, while five cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Gunungsitoli at 2.72 percent with a CPI of 113.64 and the lowest in Pontianak at 0.07 percent with a CPI of 111.11. The highest deflation was recorded in Kendari at 0.61 percent with a CPI of 111.45, while the lowest deflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan at 0.03 percent with a CPI of 115.97.
  • The combined inflation for the cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit in June 2022 was due to an increase in the index for the food, beverage and tobacco group (1.56 percent), the transportation group (1.22 percent), the food and beverage/restaurant supply group (1.11 percent) .
  • Calendar year inflation (June 2022 to December 2021) for the combined cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit was recorded at 4.25 percent and year-on-year inflation (June 2022 to June 2021) was 6.40 percent.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation in June 2022 include cayenne pepper, air transportation, pork, tomatoes, broiler eggs, red onions, oily pastries, watermelon, broiler chicken, and soup.
  • Commodities that contributed to deflation in June 2022 include catfish, tuna/ambu-ambu fish, cooking oil, snakehead fish, tilapia, garlic catfish, salted telang fish, soft drinks and mustard greens.
